Why diet and exercise are not always enough

Slow metabolism, hormonal imbalance and persistent cravings can hold weight in place no matter how carefully you eat or train. None of them respond to more effort.

If you have lost weight before and regained it, there is usually a physical reason. After a long period of eating less, the body slows its metabolism and increases hunger hormones to get back to its previous weight.

Some causes only show up in bloodwork. Insulin resistance makes it harder to use stored fat. Low thyroid function, high cortisol and low testosterone all push the body toward storing energy. Poor sleep increases appetite. Certain medications cause weight gain.

We test for these before starting treatment. Depending on what the panel shows, your clinician may prescribe a GLP-1 medication such as semaglutide, which lowers appetite and improves blood sugar control, along with peptide therapy and a nutrition and exercise plan that works with your metabolism.

What medical weight loss changes.

Medical weight loss treats the reasons the weight stays. Medication, nutrition and monitoring are prescribed together by a clinician, with the aim of a result you can keep.

Appetite and metabolism, addressed GLP-1 and peptide therapy help control cravings, support fat loss and keep energy steady while you lose weight.
Built to last Medication does the early work. Nutrition, exercise and habit changes keep the weight off after it.
Better numbers beyond the scale Losing excess weight lowers the risk of diabetes and heart disease and improves energy and mobility.

What your plan can include

Your clinician chooses from these based on your labs and your goals.

Book your consultation
  • GLP-1 medication

Weekly injections such as semaglutide or tirzepatide that reduce appetite, improve blood sugar control and support fat loss.

  • Metabolic and hormone testing

Bloodwork that shows what is slowing you down, so treatment targets the cause.

  • Nutrition and exercise plan

Meal planning and activity guidance matched to your metabolism and your schedule.

How the program works

Book your consultation

Every plan follows the same three steps.

  • In a 30-minute consultation you talk through your history, your goals and what you have already tried. Then we check your metabolic and hormone markers, with blood drawn at a lab near you or at our Atlanta office. If you have had blood work in the past 90 days, your clinician can review those results instead.

  • Based on your results, your clinician prescribes medication where it fits and builds a nutrition and exercise plan around it.

  • Regular check-ins, side effect management and dose changes as your weight and your labs move.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Adults who have tried diet and exercise and still carry weight that affects their health. GLP-1 medications are generally prescribed for a BMI of 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, prediabetes or sleep apnea. Your clinician confirms whether treatment is appropriate after your consultation and lab panel.

  • Semaglutide and tirzepatide copy a hormone your gut releases after eating. They slow digestion, reduce appetite and improve how your body handles blood sugar, so you feel full sooner and stay full longer. Both are taken as a weekly injection. Your clinician starts at a low dose and increases it gradually over the first weeks.

  • The most common are nausea, constipation, diarrhea and reduced appetite, usually in the first weeks and around dose increases. Most people find they ease as the body adjusts. Serious side effects are rare, and your clinician reviews your medical history before prescribing and stays in contact throughout treatment.

  • In clinical trials, people taking semaglutide lost around 15% of their body weight over 68 weeks, and people taking tirzepatide lost up to around 20% over 72 weeks, alongside diet and exercise changes. Individual results vary with dose, starting weight and how consistently the plan is followed. Your clinician tracks your progress and adjusts as you go.
